I have been employed by the Baldwin County Board of Education for over thirty years in a variety of positions, and have served as the Principal of Fairhope Middle School since 2010. My education includes a bachelor's and two master's degrees from the University of South Alabama.

I am married to my high school sweetheart, Mike Hall, a nurse practitioner, and we have two wonderful sons, Phillip and Joshua. My goal is to ensure the safety of your child and create a caring environment where the students and teachers are happy. With each of us working together, we will have a great school year!

Assistant Principal Katie Shurett

I am honored and humbled by the opportunity to serve the families and students of Fairhope Middle School. I have been an educator for more than 18 years! I have taught kindergarten, first grade, and special education. I spent most of my career teaching in Nashville Tennessee until my family and I relocated to Baldwin County in the summer of 2020.

I received a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education and Special Education from Troy University and a Master’s in Instructional Leadership from Carson Newman University.

My husband and I have three boys and a cat. You can typically find us fishing at the pier or a ballpark. I live by the motto of ‘purpose over position’ and my purpose is to make sure the students of Fairhope Middle School are safe and successful. If I can be of assistance, my door is always open. Go Pirates!!! 

Assistant Principal, Shawn O'Connor

I am truly blessed to be the 8th-grade Assistant Principal at the best school in Baldwin County!

I taught Special Education in Baldwin County for 20 years. I received a Bachelor’s from the University of Alabama, a Master’s from the University of West Florida and, lastly, an administration certificate from the University of South Alabama. I have also served in the Alabama National Guard for 21 years. I am currently the First Sergeant of the 1166th Military Police Company.

I am married and have two beautiful girls. I love spending time with my family at the beach and going to Disney. Roll Tide  & Go, Pirates!

I am proud to serve as Assistant Principal at Fairhope Middle School, where I have had the privilege of supporting students, families, and staff in Baldwin County since 2006. With more than 20 years of experience in education at the elementary, middle, and high school levels, I am passionate about helping students build confidence, discover their strengths, and achieve success both academically and personally. 

A native of North Mississippi, I earned a Bachelor’s in Secondary Education from Mississippi State University and a Master’s in Instructional Leadership from the University of West Alabama. I am dedicated to creating a safe, inclusive, and inspiring learning environment where every student feels valued and empowered. My goal is to guide students in embracing challenges, developing resilience, and leaving school ready to thrive in the classroom and in life beyond it.
